Saracen Race 2017

What is Saracen Race?

  • Saracen Race is a 5km Obstacle Course.

The first time I came across Saracen was last November 2016, that was the time when I started engaging in Marathon events. I did not really know what to expect, so I kind of was expecting the worst. The only thing I know was it was 5km obstacle course and it could be similar to a tactical training.

So I went online and searched for “obstacle course” to get a general idea of what it is and how it is going to be set up. This is what came up:

So, I was like… Okay! That looks interesting enough! Plus they claim it to be “for all fitness levels in all ages (thought I do not know how it was going to be possible with something “this” coming up on youtube).

I had a few weeks preparation, I was already doing a few kilometer runs here and there and was joining Marathon events almost once a week. In my mind, what could be worse than running continuously for 5km or so? I was confident in my strength so I thought “I can handle the obstacles”.

During the D-DAY. I realized I had one thing I did not see coming, the SAND! The super soft sand that cushioned all my strength, so no matter how much strength I put in to the stride it just gets absorbed. Oopss…! Poor glutes! I did not see that coming. Although, I enjoyed the whole race. I did not ranked bad either.

I made a promise to myself that I am going to do a better preparation if they are going to hold another one on 2017 and they did! The next Saracen race is scheduled on November 3, 2017 at 7am at the Marina Crescent. I have already marked the event in my Calendar and doing a preparation for it.

So, if you guys would like to go for it and know more about the event details. Visit the pro-vision events website.

Wish me luck!
